Entry/Exit Rules and Online Arrival Declaration

As of 10 April 2026, important changes apply to travelers coming to Belgium for short stays. These changes are linked to the implementation of the European Union Entry/Exit System
(EES) and the launch of a new Belgian online platform, My Address in Belgium (MAB).

End of Passport Stamping (EES)

With the entry into force of the Entry Exit System (EES), passport entry and exit stamps will no longer be used. Entries and exits will instead be recorded electronically. This applies to
nationals of non-EU countries traveling for short stays.

Online Arrival Declaration (MAB)

All visitors staying in Belgium for a short stay (up to 90 days within a 180-day period) are required to declare their presence in Belgium within three days of arrival. From 10 April 2026, this can be done online via 'My Address in Belgium’ (MAB). This digital platform allows travelers to register their arrival, provide their local address in Belgium, and avoid visiting the municipal administration in most cases.

Alternative Procedure

Visitors may still request an arrival declaration at the local municipality, but this is only possible upon instruction from the Immigration Office and is no longer automatic.

Important Reminder

Local authorities will no longer have access to entry and exit stamps, and the EES does not record the place of stay. The MAB platform ensures that authorities can continue to monitor short stays effectively and maintain accurate address information. Travelers must declare their presence within three days of arrival, preferably using the MAB online system. Failure to comply may result in administrative complications.
